Faringdon u3a has been in existence since 2002 and currently has about 500 members. We think we offer something for all who are eligible to join us – anyone who is not in full time employment. We have a total of approx 45 interest groups, ranging from Astronomy to Art History, Bridge to Spanish and Family History to Opera. We also have monthly meetings in the Corn Exchange, Faringdon which offer the opportunity to hear fascinating talks as well as the chance to mix with other members. Our Newsletter is published every three months and contains up to date news of the activities of the Committee and Interest Groups as well as details of forthcoming monthly talks. Much of this information can also be found on this site. We are affiliated to the Third Age Trust, our parent body, but have our own Constitution. Information about National activities that may be of interest to members, such as Summer Schools, Shared Learning Projects and other joint activities can be found here. In addition we have over recent years enjoyed our association with the Thames Valley Network of u3a’s. Information on forthcoming activities received from TVN can also be found here. This is a new and developing website and our hope is that members and, in particular, Group Leaders will become used to providing us with material to improve and enhance the information provided.

Summer Lunch

Our Summer Lunch will be held at 19 Coxwell Road thanks to the continuing generosity of Steve and Jenny Braithwaite.  This event is only open to Faringdon & District u3a members – sorry no guests.

Meat, fish and vegetarian Main Course options will be provided together with bread. A glass of wine or a soft drink will be served with Lunch, and additional wine or soft drinks will be available by the glass or bottle if required (donations appreciated)  – cash only,  please.

Those who attend are asked to contribute either a salad or a dessert which should be ‘ready-to-serve’ in a dish that you should take away at the end.  Please can you label your dish with your name, and please don’t bring any serving spoons.

As this will be our first post-Covid Summer Lunch – and one of the highlights of the season – we expect demand for places to be very brisk, and an early response is strongly recommended. Acceptances must be made on, or before, Monday 8 August, but we reserve the right to close bookings earlier in the event of demand exceeding capacity.

Please click on the button below which will take you to a ‘response form’, where you can say whether you are attending, not attending or might attend.

Parking – if you plan to come by car, please park considerately in the road and ensure that  there is room for the buses to get past.  Please ‘car-share’ if possible.

Covid – Mindful of the continuing need for all members to keep themselves and others safe, and protected from Covid-19, your committee expect and trust that all those wishing to attend the lunch will ensure that they are vaccinated to the recommended level. This is currently three vaccinations, and in some cases soon to be – or already – four jabs, including Boosters.

However, irrespective of the number of vaccinations received, in the event of feeling unwell, please do not attend this event.
